Colombia is an origin that produces some of our favourite coffees. We love the diverse range of coffees that can be found in Colombia. These are affected by differences in soil, climate, varietal and post harvest processing. This is a lovely washed coffee from a farm in the Antioquia area.
Farm Overview:
La Claudina is one of two farms owned by Juan Saldarriaga and covering a large area of about 60 hectares. Of this, 42 hectares are planted with coffee and the remaining area is wild forest.
Harvesting and Processing:
La Claudina is located at 1400 - 1800 masl in the city of Bolivar in Antioquia. This section of the farm covers about 18 hectares and is mainly planted with Castillo with small amounts of Tabi, Caturra and Geisha. Coffee is carefully hand harvested and pulped on site. After pulping the coffee is fermented in tanks and then washed.
Coffee is dried under the protection of a parabolic drier. The farm employs 3 full-time workers and during the harvest, an extra 45 staff are employed as pickers.
Tasting Notes:
This is a fantastic washed coffee from Colombia! Flavours include peach, milk chocolate and a hint of mint. This is an amazingly complex washed coffee with wonderful sweetness and a high cup score.
