In 2020 we decided to use our Christmas blend as a great platform to raise funds for FareShare Sussex over the Christmas period. Christmas can be a tough time for many families especially those struggling financially.
We decided to partner with FareShare Sussex, a fantastic charity that collects food that would end up going to waste and distributing this via charities that turn this food into meals and food parcels. This is then distributed to those most in need across Sussex. The following image explains the three stage process:
Food waste is a massive challenge and many businesses end up with surplus food that usually ends up in landfill. FareShare are not only helping to provide food and food parcels to those in need but tackling the negative environmental impact of food waste.
In addition to contributing 5% of the sale of our coffee from Brazil we have donated a significant portion of the sales from our Christmas blend to FareShare Sussex.
During the Christmas period of 2021 we commited to donate £3 from the sale of every 1kg bags of Christmas charity coffee blend and £1 from the sale of every 250g bag of Christmas blend. This raised £1478 and FareShare are able to turn this into 5912 meals.
